Leon Eyck -Director &Co Founder

Leon has been working in the industry for over 20 years and offers a wide spectrum of experience and knowledge. Experience has ranged from the master planning of tourism resorts in Canada, university & office fit-out projects, commercial developments including office and retail buildings, medium-density residential developments and the design of custom buildings for clients in urban, alpine and coastal areas.

Leon is the principal designer of DE atelier Architects. He has excellent communication skills and demonstrated excellence in community engagement within the local region.

Leon is an active member of the community, sits on the Ocean Grove Tennis Club as President, and was instrumental in leading the redevelopment of the OGTC Clubs rooms.

Briony Darcy - Principal & Co Founder

Briony’s professional and business experience stems from co-founding DE atelier Architects. The practice has completed significant work throughout Melbourne and Regional Victoria, ranging from $0.5M to $20M.

As principal, Briony’s role involves setting and implementing the strategic direction of DE atelier Architects.

Briony’s keen interest in the natural environment, sustainability and care for her community saw her take up as Committee Member for the Barwon Coast Committee of Management in 2014. This is a ministerial appointment by the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning. The committee is the delegated statutory authority overseeing the management of 13km of coastline between Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads.

Claire Walker - Senior Architect & Interiors

Claire is an architect with over 10 years of experience in the design and construction industry, specialising in Interior Design. Her range of expertise is broad, encompassing small to large high-end residential, commercial, health, and educational projects. From inception to completion, Claire has demonstrated proficiency across all project stages.

Claire's deep connection to nature is reflected in her design approach. She enjoys spending time at the beach or in the mountains, and this appreciation for natural surroundings has greatly influenced her work. She has a keen eye for integrating natural materials into her designs, creating spaces seamlessly connecting with their environments. Claire's passion lies in harmonising elements within a space – how things come together, the tactile qualities of materials, and the impact they have on the occupants. Her designs prioritise functionality, aesthetics, and the overall well-being of the people who inhabit the spaces she creates.

With a profound understanding of the interplay between architecture and interior design, Claire brings innovative and thoughtful solutions to every project.

Tom Bio

Thomas Kelly - Senior Architect

Thomas is a dedicated architect who has been a valued member of the DE atelier team since 2018, following Master’s degree at Deakin University. Prior to working with DE atelier Thomas gained practical experience in landscape architecture, fostering a deep passion for harmoniously connecting indoor and outdoor environments, greatly influencing his project approach.

Thomas has significantly contributed to various projects during his tenure at DE atelier, showcasing his versatility and expertise in all project stages. He has been involved in residential new-builds and renovations, creating spaces that blend functionality with aesthetic appeal. Additionally, Thomas has played an integral role in community-based projects within the City of Greater Geelong region, emphasising his commitment to improving the built environment for the local community.

Thomas's portfolio also encompasses education and childcare projects, where his keen eye for detail and design finesse have resulted in stimulating and safe learning environments for children. As an excellent communicator, he collaborates with clients, team members, and stakeholders, ensuring a seamless flow of ideas and effective project execution.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Thomas's love for architecture extends to his leisure activities. He spends his free time reading about architectural history and theory, further enriching his knowledge and understanding of the field. Additionally, Thomas is an active member of his local tennis club, nurturing his sense of camaraderie and teamwork

Raymond Chua - Graduate of Architecture

Raymond has been a valuable member of the DE atelier team since June 2021 after graduating at Deakin University. Raymond brings his youthful enthusiasm to the office. He has developed skills across multiple facets of architecture including, project initiation, measured drawings, town-planning documentation, and detailed documentation. A willing learner, Raymond keeps an open mind to capture and process all new information and continues to grow his skills, on a path to becoming an architect

Raymond has been developing his talent in 3D rendering and is quickly becoming the go-to expert in the office, working closing with the architecture and interior design team. Raymond has a keen interest in photography, is highly skilled in capturing a scene and has a love of mixed media graphic art.

Dexter Low - Graduate of Architecture

Dexter began working at DE Atelier Architects in 2022 after completing his Master of Architecture degree at Deakin University.  Dexter has demonstrated a passion for learning and dedication towards becoming a Registered Architect. Dexter brings a constant smile and a happy demeanour when working in a team.  

Dexter is passionate about creating graphic presentations that tell a compelling ‘story’ based on the architect's and the client’s shared project vision. Dexter is competent in measured drawings and existing condition reports and is developing his skills in town planning and contract documentation.

Dexter is one of Deakin University’s Malaysian Alumni Ambassadors forging connections between students, graduates and growing the Alumni base.  He goes the extra mile in developing his skill set by participating in architecture competitions with his friends and furthering his knowledge.

Alanna Bio

Alanna Mills - Business Systems

With a background in project management Alanna is responsible for implementation and monitoring of DE ateliers Quality Assurance and Business Systems.  This ensures that all projects completed by DE atelier Architects are produced at the best quality.

Alanna also manages the day to day operation of the office ensuring smooth running of the administrative side of all our projects.
